With the go ahead to start work on the lottery projects things are happening fast at Slough Fort.
The ice shot blasting of the casemates that will become the café is now complete so the removal of the floor infill concrete has started in preparation for a new wooden floor. The joinery for the casemate backs has been ordered (delivery August/September), as everything is bespoke, things have to be ordered well in advance. reclaimed bricks are on site, brick layer booked.
Likewise with the underground magazine contractors have been in and out measuring and pricing, again all bespoke items will take a while to manufacture. An example of this is the missing air bricks and bull nosed tiles, delivery expected in January 2026.
On the unisex toilet room progress, all now plumbed in thanks to our shy plumber who donated his time over the bank holiday weekend, electricians booked so wont be long for that room to be complete.
