Work continues in the café with a view to open up week commencing 16th March 2026 to coincide with the fort opening up for the new season and tours starting Wednesday18th March and then every Wednesday and Sunday until November 1st 2026.
Within the East Magazine, the work continues inside with the painting of the walls, the lift shaft mechanism is now on site along with associated metal work and is being painted prior to installation. Work has also started, being carried out by a local artist, for the children’s interactive area, all part of the bigger picture for the Heritage Museum.
The 1902 building progresses, with the new windows and door now in place. Inside the area is being prepared for an education and lecture room, a large screen is now on the wall which will enable less abled visitors to watch a full tour if they cannot climb up the spiral stairs or down to the magazine. The tour is being filmed within the next couple of weeks.
