This month mainly concentrated on what we now call our Restoration Update Day. This year was again very well attended with vehicles and re enactors on site to enhance the visitors experience. We were also able to put our new café space to good use which proved very popular and helped make the day a financial sucess.
This year we were also lucky to have the Mayor of Medway attend and amongst his official duties was the opening of the children’s educational/interactive area below ground in the East Magazine. Artist Johnny Dixon was on hand to explain to all his thoughts of how he interpreted the brief given to him for creating the area which was to cover ” The rich military history of the Hoo Peninsula throughout the ages”, you can see below the pictures of the Mayor fully engrossed in the unveiling.
Restoration continues in the background, both underground in the magazine, repairs to the roof of the magazine and also in casemate 4 where the joinery is due to arrive this month.
