Now that we have the go ahead from the HLF to carry out the grant work lots of work has been going on.
The infill of the floor in the casemates to become the café has now been fully removed, the sole plates have been put in position, then the joists and we are now working on the installation of the floorboards. In the background we now have all the electrical fittings in place in the unisex toilet room, this just leaves tidying up and a bit of painting. The joinery for the backs of the casemates is on order (4 months lead in time), reclaimed bricks for below the joinery have been purchased and are on site along with the new sills. Imitation granite kerb stones have been cast in place at the backs of the casemates, the gap between these and the new brickwork will be filled in with York stone slabs.
Down in the east magazine, which will become our Heritage Centre we now have all the electrics complete, we also now have an external stairlift fitted this along with the new pathways we have laid will make more areas accessible to all.
