We have made a lot of purchases and a lot of progress during this month within the casemates to become the café and the East Magazine which will be the heritage centre, as follows.
Café, the second frame is now in place, this now closes off the café to the elements, once painted outside work can continue inside regardless of the weather. The floor has had its first coat of stain, the new capping stones for the edge of the roof above have arrived on site.
East Magazine, the frames and glass have arrived and been fitted to the lighting passage recesses, the ammunition locker doors and frames have arrived and fitting has started along with the missing hold fast rings. Inside the black engineering bricks on all the corners of the walls have been cleaned up and some of the walls painted giving quite a startling contrast, your first impression on entering the magazine. The joinery for the shifting lobby has also arrived and will be fitted soon.
