Work continues on the lottery projects, the artist is very busy within the east magazine creating the children’s interactive area, it is aimed to be finished by July 19th which is our main open day, it should look very colourful when finished. Work also continues on the concrete repairs outside of the magazine.
A new project has also started on casemate 4 within the main fort building. The walls and sills have been installed and now work begins on the timber floor. The supporting walls for the floor were missing down to the foundations so they have been rebuilt, soul plates installed, ready for the joists. There are grants available for youth so we may try and get a grant to use the casemate for a youth hostel, we are very popular with cubs and scouts who have stayed overnight but have had to sleep rough on the floor of the fort, it would be a great use for the casemate and compliment our recently installed education and lecture room.
